About Initiative Tracker: DM Tools

Initiative Tracker is a combat tracker for game masters running fifth-edition-compatible tabletop games. Put the party and the monsters on the board, roll initiative and tap Next turn, or try a sample fight first. Everyone sits on one track, highest initiative first, with ties settled by Dexterity and then players before monsters, so the order never shuffles on its own. The app keeps the order, the round, the hit points and every condition, so you can keep your eyes on the players.

Hit points need no keyboard: tap a combatant, type the number on the pad, and choose Damage, Heal or Temp HP. Damage several creatures at once and mark who saved for half; resistance, vulnerability and immunity are read from each stat block, and every change can be undone, a whole area spell at once. All fifteen conditions are there, including exhaustion levels, and a condition given a duration in rounds falls off by itself. A player at 0 HP is asked for death saves.

Every creature in the SRD 5.1 (334) and the SRD 5.2 (341) is bundled, with full stat blocks one tap from the order, and you pick the 2014 or 2024 rules in Settings. Tap Roll on an attack and the d20 meets the target’s AC; legendary actions, legendary resistances and recharge abilities keep count for you. Save the party once, build encounters ahead with their difficulty from the SRD 5.2 XP budgets, make your own monsters, and turn the screen to the table, or cast it, for a player view that never shows a monster’s hit points.

It pays you nothing. There are no coins in it, no balance and no cash-out, which is why it sits apart from the reward apps. It is free with nothing to buy, and carries a banner ad on the party screen and in Settings — never on the tracker, which sits across the table all session. There is no account and no sign-in, and your party, encounters, monsters and portraits stay on the device; what leaves it is the ad, anonymous analytics and crash reports, set out in its own privacy policy.

It has been on Google Play since October 2026, for Android phones and tablets, in English and Spanish. The iPhone and iPad version is not in the App Store yet, and this page will carry that button the day the listing goes live, not before. Monster statistics, conditions and encounter budgets are from the System Reference Document 5.1 and 5.2.1 under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license; Initiative Tracker is an independent tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by the SRD’s publisher.

Frequently asked questions

Is it on iPhone?

Not yet. It is on Google Play for Android phones and tablets. This page will carry the App Store button the day the iPhone and iPad listing goes live, and not before.

Does this app pay me anything?

No. It has no coins, no balance and no cash-out. The apps we publish that pay are on our apps page.

Is it free?

Yes, with nothing to buy. It carries a banner ad on the party screen and in Settings, and never on the tracker.

Which rules does it use?

The System Reference Document: every creature in the SRD 5.1 and the SRD 5.2, with the 2014 or 2024 rules picked in Settings. It works for any fifth-edition-compatible game, and you can make stat blocks of your own for anything the SRD does not have.

Do I need an account or a connection?

No. There is no account and no sign-in, and it works with no connection. Everything is kept on the device, and a backup file saves it all if you want a copy.

What does it collect?

The ad, anonymous analytics and crash reports, and never a character’s name, a monster or a portrait. The privacy policy has the details, and Delete my data erases everything on the device.
