About Which Formula
Which Formula is for Algebra 2, trigonometry and precalculus students who know the formulas and still freeze in front of a problem. It answers the question that comes before the working: which method is this? Then it stops. There is nowhere to type an equation, on purpose, so every step of your own problem stays yours.
Find my method asks about the shape of the problem, never its numbers. Where does the variable sit? Does the triangle have a right angle? What were you given? Each option carries a tiny example, so you can pick the right one before you know its name, and your answers are drawn down the page as a flowchart. Fifteen questions lead to 39 methods, and the one you land on comes with its formula, its steps, the mistakes it invites and a short throwaway example of its shape.
Spot the method is a daily drill. Five problems a day, the same five for everyone, and for each one you pick which of four methods you’d start with. You don’t solve anything. A wrong pick shows which method it was and why. Keep a streak going, or run a practice round any time; practice leans toward the methods you’ve been missing. There are 195 problems across every topic.
When you already know what you need, the cheat sheet has twelve topics: logarithms, exponents and radicals, quadratics, polynomials, rational expressions, complex numbers, systems, sequences and series, functions and transformations, right triangle trig, the unit circle, and trig identities. Search finds a formula by its name or by a piece of it.
It looks like a math notebook, with graph paper, pen and a highlighter, in light and dark. It works offline, in English and Spanish, with no sign-up. It pays you nothing: no coins, no balance and no cash-out, which is why it sits apart from the reward apps. It is free with nothing to buy, and carries a banner ad on the home screen, the cheat sheet and the method pages, never on the questions or in the drill. Your drill progress stays on the phone; what the app does send is set out in its own privacy policy.
It is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play, for iPhone, iPad and Android. Neither listing is live yet, and this page will carry the buttons the day each one goes live. There is no browser version.
How to find your method
- Tap Find my method on the home page.
- Answer each question about what the problem looks like. The small example under each option shows what it means.
- Read the method you land on: its formula, its steps and the mistakes to watch for.
- Back up one answer at a time if a question didn’t fit, and try the other branch.
- Work the problem yourself, then try the day’s five in Spot the method.

Frequently asked questions
Will it solve my homework?
No, and that's the point of it. There's nowhere to type an equation and nothing that produces an answer. It tells you which method to use and how that method goes, and the working is yours.
What classes is it for?
Algebra 2 and trigonometry, and anyone brushing up before precalculus or a placement test. The topics run from logarithms and quadratics through sequences, functions, the unit circle and trig identities.
Where can I get it?
It's coming soon to the App Store and Google Play, for iPhone, iPad and Android. Neither listing is live yet, so there's no download button here. This page will carry each one the day it goes live.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. The questions, methods, drill problems and cheat sheet are all built into the app. Without a connection you just don't see ads.
Does this app pay me anything?
No. It has no coins, no balance and no cash-out. The apps we publish that pay are on our apps page.
Is it free?
Yes, with nothing to buy and no sign-up. A banner ad sits on the home screen, the cheat sheet and the method pages, and there's none on the questions or in the drill.
What does it keep about me?
Your drill scores and streak, on the phone. Settings › Delete my data erases them. The ads, analytics and crash reports it sends are in the privacy policy.
