Is Noom free?

Yes, the app is free, and more durably than most: Noom publishes a free tier that you keep after a paid subscription ends. The paid program has a price for every plan length it sells, twelve of them, published with no account required. They’re in a support article that no page selling the product links to.

The whole price list, and where it lives

Noom’s homepage FAQ asks “How much does Noom cost?” and answers “All of our products have different pricing and you can find more information on Noom Weight plan here or Noom Med plans here”. The first link goes to noom.com/lose-weight, which has no currency symbol anywhere in its 267,618 characters of HTML. The words trial, cost and free don’t appear on it in any form. Checked in the source on 18 September 2026, because a price inside a collapsed element would still count as published.

The price list is two clicks away in the support center, under Subscription and Billing. The article is Noom Weight Plan Pricing and What to Expect: “a general list of Noom Weight plan options and their prices (before any taxes or discounts)”. The per-month column is derived.

The same article says the final recommendation is “personalized based on your quiz results”. It adds that “your pricing may vary slightly depending on promotions or your signup method (like through the app vs. website)”. So this is a list price rather than a quote.

What the ladder does

Twelve monthly payments would be $840 against the annual plan’s $209: $631 of difference, or 75.1%. MyFitnessPal’s month-against-year gap was 67% and Strava’s 44%. Month two adds $59, month three $30, month four $10, and months five through twelve add $40 between them, an average of $5.00 each.

Once you have bought four months for $169, another eight cost forty dollars. The price is an entry fee with a long tail attached. Plenty of subscriptions work this way and nothing is hidden. But the shortest commitment costs far more here than on Todoist, where a year cost 29% less than twelve single months, not 75%. The counterweight is the refund window: it runs 14 days from your first charge, so a longer plan is cheaper per month and harder to leave.

Three official surfaces, three different starting prices

Noom Med, the medication program, is what the marketing leads with, and it is priced on more surfaces than the subscription. All read on 18 September 2026.

Each counts something different, so none contradicts another. The recurring figure appears only in the homepage footnote. For Noom Med it reads “Initial 3 week subscription and 4 weeks of medication from $149 plus tax and $349 per month plus tax for 12 week subscription thereafter”. For the microdose program it reads “from $79 plus tax and $199 per month plus tax”. Both are marked “New pricing for new accounts only effective as of March 31, 2026”. The large type is the introductory price and the footnote is what it becomes: $79, then $199. Compare footnotes, not headlines.

What the stores print, and the number Google ships without showing

Apple’s and Google’s descriptions are word-for-word identical: “Plans start at $17 a month”, footnoted “Based on annual auto-renewing plan for $209 USD. All prices are prior to any applicable sales tax or discounts”. No store rule required that paragraph. Calm managed it on one store and not the other.

Apple’s Information row reads In-App Purchases: Yes. Expanded on 19 September 2026, it lists Noom Program at $44.99, $98.99, $129.99, $159.99 and $199.99, and Noom Pro at $9.99, with no plan length attached. Four of the five match rungs on the ladder above; $98.99 and Noom Pro match nothing on it. There is no promoted in-app purchase above the App Privacy panel. Google Play shows an In-app purchases badge and no items-and-offers section under either heading it uses, In-app items and offers or In-game items and offers.

Google Play’s page data carries a price range it never renders; search the source for per item and it reads “$0.99 - $199.00 per item”. A range names no item. A figure in a page’s data but not on the page is not published in any useful sense. $199.00 is exactly the ten-month plan, and ten dollars under the $209 the same listing advertises as the annual price. That is consistent with the in-app price and the web price differing. It is not evidence of it.

The trial, and the sentence about notice

The homepage has a button reading START YOUR TRIAL. We couldn’t find the trial’s length, price or terms on any surface reachable without the sign-up quiz. We didn’t take the quiz, because it asks for personal health information. Noom’s own site search for trial returns blog posts about clinical trials.

Section 6.3(a) of the terms, updated 9 December 2025, is what anyone about to start one should read. It says: “If your subscription begins with a free trial, your first payment will be charged to your chosen payment method immediately following the end of the free trial…” Noom gives notice of the trial terms when you register. After that, “you will not receive a separate notice that your free trial is about to end or has ended, or that your paid subscription has begun, unless required by law in particular instances or jurisdictions.”

At least it’s written down. The support center says billing reminder emails go out with renewal dates and refund eligibility. The terms promise no email before the charge that starts the subscription. Put the first charge in your own calendar.

Refunds, in two documents that do not agree

The 14-day window is plausibly what expressly promoted means, so the two can be squared. But the binding document does not itself grant the 14 days, and the article that does is one Noom may revise. If you rely on it, ask inside the fortnight and in writing. Strava has the mirror image of the California clause: a cooling-off period for everyone except US residents.

The add-on that renews every 28 days

Add-ons are billed separately and almost none is priced in public. Noom Metabolic, a supplement subscription, is the exception: “Your subscription costs $49 per month and automatically renews every 28 days”. A 28-day cycle is thirteen shipments in 364 days. Derived: $637 a year against the $588 twelve monthly charges of $49 would cost, one extra shipment on a date that walks backwards through the calendar. The article discloses the cycle in the same sentence as the price.

Three reward currencies, two of them for walking

Noom Vibe is a free standalone app, and Noom’s support center calls Noom its parent company. The App Store lists Social Audio Inc. as publisher under a copyright line reading © Noom Inc. It has no in-app purchases badge and no ads badge on either store. Vibes are redeemable for gift cards from Amazon, Apple, Target and about forty other brands, or donated to causes.

Its help center prices the earning side in detail. A daily step goal pays up to 750 Vibes, and walking with the pedometer connected up to 150. A 15-minute workout pays 150, five minutes of meditation 50, and a full day of habits 100. Bringing five friends into a StepFam pays up to 10,000, once. The step goal alone comes to 273,750 Vibes a year (derived). We read all 44 articles in that help center on 18 September 2026 and none of them contains a dollar sign. Sweatcoin has the same shape: the earning rate published to the step, the value published nowhere.

The two stores disagree about who these apps are for

Noom is 18+ on the App Store and rated Everyone on Google Play, with the interactive elements listed as Users Interact, Digital Purchases. Noom Vibe is 13+ on the App Store and Mature 17+ on Google Play. Ratings are self-declared through questionnaires that differ, so a gap is not by itself a fault. For a parent it is still the line to check: a weight-loss program one store will not show a seventeen-year-old is offered to everyone on the other.

The price that is itemized

Twelve categories linked to you is one more than Duolingo declares. Google’s page says data is encrypted in transit and deletion can be requested. Of the two apps from the same company, the free one is the one that shares nothing.

What Noom does better than anything we make

Noom holds 4.7 from 872,000 ratings on the App Store and sits at #132 in Health & Fitness there. On Google Play it has 10 million-plus downloads and 4.1 from 314,000 reviews. Noom Vibe alone holds 4.7 from 21,000 App Store ratings and 100,000-plus downloads on Google Play. Taco Rain, our newest, has one App Store rating.

• Twelve plan lengths, twelve prices. Todoist and Strava publish full lists too, but not for every length they sell.
• The price in both store descriptions, with a footnote saying what the headline figure is based on.
• Three published cancellation routes, one inside the app, and a plain statement that deleting the app cancels nothing.
• A refund window its own terms would not otherwise give, and a California rescission right written into the contract.
• Medication footnotes that state what each starting at figure counts.
• Noom Vibe is free, carries no ads and no in-app purchases, and declares no data shared with third parties on Google Play. All four of our reward apps are paid for by advertising. On the three things people most often ask about a walking app, the Noom one answers better than ours.

How to check any of this yourself

Read the help center before concluding that a price is unpublished. Noom’s complete price list, its free-tier feature list, the NoomCoin and Seeds rules and the one priced add-on are all in support articles. Those are filed for people who have already paid. None is on a page written to sell. Search a pricing page’s source for a currency symbol rather than reading it, which is how noom.com/lose-weight gave itself away in one keystroke. And when a company describes the same thing on two pages, compare them word by word, which is how the refund answer came apart.
