Where we stand. We make Stitch Keeper, a row counter for crochet and knitting. It is coming to Google Play as a free app with one banner ad on the project list, and it runs in a browser today. It counts rows and repeats. It has no pattern library and no stash, so it covers one corner of what Loopsy does. We take no referral fee from anyone on this page.

Yes, with limits. The free plan has no end date and keeps the counters, timers and stash. It allows 10 pattern and stash imports a week. Loopsy Pro removes the caps for $39.99 a year or $9.99 a month, according to Loopsy's own pricing page. It runs only on Apple devices.

Where the price is

Every surface read for a Loopsy price on 27 October 2026
Surface What it shows
loopsy.com/pricing Free, $0, “Forever”. Pro Annual $39.99 per year. Pro Monthly $9.99 per month. Both say “Start Free Trial”, with no length
Terms of Service, section 4 Billed to your Apple ID, renews automatically, “All sales are final”. No figure
App Store, Information row Ten items named Loopsy Pro: $4.99, $9.99, $19.99, $29.99 twice, $39.99 three times, $49.99, $99.99. No billing period
App Store, promoted purchase None
App Store description No figure, and no mention of Pro
Google Play No listing. The home page offers an Android waitlist

Two of Apple's prices match the website. The other five could be older prices, regional offers or a lifetime plan. Loopsy does not say, and a one-time purchase appears nowhere on its site.

The annual plan is the cheaper way to pay. Twelve months at $9.99 come to $119.88, against $39.99 for the year (derived).

What is free and what is Pro

Loopsy's free plan against Pro, from the Compare plans table on its pricing page
Feature Free Pro
Pattern and stash imports 10 a weekUnlimited
Row counter and timers YesYes
Stash management, Discover, calculators YesYes
Unlimited projects and stash items NoYes
Stash barcode scanner NoYes
Ravelry and Dropbox sync NoYes
Ad-blocking browser, full tool access NoYes
Family Sharing, priority support NoYes

The table does not say how many projects or stash items a free account holds. The import cap changed on 24 September 2026, when version 4.7.0 replaced “one flat limit” with 10 imports every week. The home page also lists “cloud sync across all your devices” under Pro, which the pricing table leaves out.

The subscription screen at the start

A two-star review from June 2026 describes setting up a profile and then meeting a payment screen before trying anything. The developer's reply says the app is free with no payment details needed: close the subscription screen and the free version has no time limit. The reply also says the first screen was being changed so the free option is obvious. So if Loopsy asks for a card on first launch, closing that screen is the free plan.

A review from September 2025 describes missing the end of a free trial and being charged for a year. Loopsy's terms say a subscription renews unless it is canceled at least 24 hours before the period ends, and that Apple handles refunds. Since the trial length is not printed anywhere we read, check it on the subscription screen before you start one.

When a paid feature changed

In October 2026 a one-star review said the feature the reviewer bought the annual plan for, converting PDF patterns into step-by-step smart patterns, had been removed mid-subscription. The developer's reply of 6 October apologized and said a new Format Steps feature brings automatic PDF step formatting back for existing Pro subscribers. The reviewer's edit of 9 October says the smart patterns they already had disappeared after updating. We could not check either side of that inside the app.

Loopsy ships quickly: four versions between 30 September and 14 October 2026. That pace is how the app grew fast, and it is also why a feature list read today can differ next month.

Other row counters, and how they price

Row counter apps on the US App Store and what Apple lists for each, 27 October 2026
App Apple ratings What Apple lists Data Used to Track You
Loopsy About 17,000 Ten items named Loopsy Pro, $4.99 to $99.99 None listed
knitCompanion About 6,900 Two items, both $29.99 (yearly, per its help pages) None: “Data Not Collected”
My Row Counter About 3,900 Ten items, $2.99 to $14.99, including No Ads at $2.99 Listed
Crochet Patterns–Row Counter About 1,200 Ten items, $1.49 to $39.99, including Lifetime at $39.99 Listed
YarnBuddy About 800 Pro Annual $14.99, Pro Monthly $1.99, Pro No Expiration $44.99 None listed
Stitch Keeper (ours) Not on the App Store Coming to Google Play, free, one banner ad on the project list; the browser version has none Not yet listed

YarnBuddy's three item names each state their term. Loopsy's own website is clearer than its App Store list; it just prints two prices where Apple shows seven.

What Loopsy does better

  • It keeps the whole project in one place. Patterns from PDFs, photos and links sit beside the counter, the timer and the yarn they use. Stitch Keeper counts and keeps notes, and that is all.
  • The stash knows your patterns. A four-star review describes looking at a yarn and seeing which saved patterns it suits.
  • It runs across Apple devices, including Apple Watch, and Pro covers up to five family members.
  • The free plan has no end date, and Apple's privacy panel lists no data used to track you.
  • It is being worked on constantly, and the developer answers reviews by name, including the angry ones.

What we could not check

Nothing inside the app was read. So the trial length, the free project and stash limits, what the five unexplained App Store prices are, and whether Format Steps restores what smart patterns did are all missing. Loopsy's “500k+ makers” is its own claim; Apple shows about 17,000 ratings.

Frequently asked questions

Is Loopsy free?

Yes. Loopsy's pricing page calls the free plan "Forever", and it includes the row counter, timers, stash management, Discover and the craft calculators. Free accounts get 10 pattern and stash imports a week. Unlimited projects and stash items need Pro.

How much is Loopsy Pro?

Loopsy's website lists Pro Annual at $39.99 a year and Pro Monthly at $9.99 a month, both with a free trial. You pay through your Apple ID, and Apple's US list shows Loopsy Pro at seven different prices from $4.99 to $99.99.

Why does the App Store show so many Loopsy Pro prices?

Apple's In-App Purchases row lists ten items, every one named Loopsy Pro, at $4.99, $9.99, $19.99, $29.99, $39.99, $49.99 and $99.99. Apple doesn't show billing periods, and Loopsy's site only names two of those prices, so we can't tell you what the other five are.

How long is the Loopsy free trial?

We couldn't find it in writing. The pricing page says Start Free Trial on both Pro plans without a length, and neither the terms nor the App Store description gives one. Check the subscription screen in the app before you start it.

How many patterns can I import for free on Loopsy?

10 imports a week, counting patterns and stash together. Version 4.7.0, released 24 September 2026, replaced the old flat limit with "10 fresh imports every week". Pro removes the cap.

Is Loopsy on Android?

No. It's on iPhone, iPad, Mac with Apple silicon, Apple Watch and Apple Vision. Loopsy's home page has a Join Android Waitlist button, and there was no Loopsy listing on Google Play on 27 October 2026.

How do I cancel Loopsy Pro?

In your Apple ID subscriptions: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. Loopsy's terms say it renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.

Can I get a refund for Loopsy Pro?

Not from Loopsy. Its terms say "All sales are final; Apple handles refund requests", so you ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Can I share Loopsy Pro with my family?

Yes. Family Sharing is a Pro feature on the pricing page, and the home page says up to 5 family members each get their own patterns, progress and stash.

Does Loopsy have ads?

Its developer says no. Replying to a 2025 App Store review, they wrote that the price keeps the app running "without ads or selling data". Pro's Ad Blocking Browser is something else: it blocks ads on pattern websites you open inside the app.

Was Loopsy called StitchCraft?

It looks that way. Developer replies on its App Store page from 2025 call the app StitchCraft and give a stitchcraftapp.com support address, and the listing has had the same App Store ID since it launched on 23 May 2025.

The row counter we make

Stitch Keeper counts rows, rounds and repeats for crochet and knitting, with no account. It is coming to Google Play, and the browser version runs today.
