Where we stand, before the list. We make a to-do list. Todo And Earn is in the same store category as Todoist, so we are not neutral here. It is a simple list that pays a coin for each finished task, up to ten a day, and it is free with ads. It has no projects, no sync and no account. It is on the list below, second from last, and it is not the verdict. We take no referral fee from any app on this page.

Todoist has 129,989 App Store ratings at 4.8 and 307,000 Google Play reviews at 4.6, with an Editors’ Choice badge on Play. Its free plan is a working task manager with one hard limit, five active personal projects, and Pro costs $60 a year. The people looking for a replacement have mostly hit one of those two numbers. The apps below split three ways: free with nothing to buy, a cheaper subscription, or a one-time price.

What each one costs, read off their own pages

Read on 20 October 2026, in the US. Prices come from each publisher’s pricing page where one exists, and from Apple’s In-App Purchases row, expanded, which lists prices without billing periods unless the item name gives one. Rating counts are from the App Store and Google Play the same day.

Why people leave, in Todoist’s own terms

Todoist publishes its limits plainly, and that is to its credit. The free plan keeps five active personal projects; Pro raises that to 300. When a Pro account drops back to free, projects over the limit become view-only until you upgrade again or archive some. Our is Todoist free page walks through that rule and the rest of the price list. Two more facts from the billing FAQ shape the choice below: Pro is tied to one account, with no family sharing, and monthly plans are not refundable.

The alternatives

TickTick, the closest match for less

The nearest thing to Todoist in shape: lists, tags, sub-tasks, recurring tasks and calendar views, plus a habit tracker. Premium is $49.99 a year on its own upgrade page, and Apple’s list shows $4.99 a month beside it. The free plan caps you at 9 lists and 99 tasks per list, which is a different limit from Todoist’s and may suit you better or worse. TickTick’s page says your data stays if Premium lapses, and refunds are available for 14 days on purchases made outside Apple. Its App Privacy panel declares nothing used to track you.

Microsoft To Do, free with no catch printed

Microsoft’s listing says To Do “is free and available on all your devices,” and neither store shows anything to buy. Its 268,928 App Store ratings are the most of any app here you have to download, and it has 483,000 reviews on Google Play. It syncs through Microsoft 365, and its listing says you can share a list with anyone. One thing to weigh: its iPhone app was last updated 6 July 2026 and its Android app 14 July, the oldest dates on this page by three months. Its App Privacy panel declares nothing used to track you.

Any.do, if the household shares one plan

Any.do has more Google Play reviews than any other paid app here, 506,000, and an Editors’ Choice badge. Its prices disagree between surfaces. The pricing page shows Premium at $4.99 a month billed yearly or $7.99 monthly; the App Store description lists $9.99 a month and $59.99 a year, and Apple’s In-App Purchases row has ten entries from $2.99 to $59.99. Check the screen you actually pay on. Any.do sells a Family plan for four people at $8.33 a month billed yearly, which Todoist does not offer, but its pricing page puts recurring tasks in Premium. Its App Privacy panel declares purchases, contact info and identifiers used to track you.

Things 3, bought once, Apple only

The one-time-price option, from Cultured Code, with 28,020 ratings on the iPhone app. It is sold per device: $9.99 for iPhone and Apple Watch, $19.99 for iPad and $49.99 for Mac. The iPhone listing says sync is free through Things Cloud and that a free trial exists for Mac only. There is no Android, Windows or web version, so it is a replacement only if every device you use is made by Apple. Its App Privacy panel declares nothing used to track you.

Google Tasks, the plain free one

Free on iPhone, iPad and Android, with no in-app purchases on either store and 612,000 Google Play reviews. Its listing names task lists, sub-tasks, due dates with notifications, and tasks made straight from a Gmail message. That is a shorter feature list than Todoist’s, and the listing mentions no labels or filters. Updated 14 October 2026 on the App Store. Its App Privacy panel declares nothing used to track you.

Todo And Earn, ours

A simple to-do list with a coin for each finished task, up to ten a day. A coin is a tenth of a cent, and the first PayPal cash-out is $2.00 at 2,000 coins, which takes most of a year on tasks alone or about a month if you also watch the optional videos. It has due dates with a reminder, repeating tasks that roll forward, notes, undo on delete and a tablet split view. There is no account, so nothing syncs between devices, and there are no projects, labels or filters. It is free with a banner and optional videos, and its App Privacy panel declares identifiers and usage data used to track you, which none of the free apps above declares. On Google Play it is rated Mature 17+ because of the cash reward, and it had 10+ downloads on 20 October 2026.

Apple Reminders, already on your iPhone

Free, built in, and the most-rated app on this page by a wide margin, with 1,039,885 App Store ratings at 4.8. Its listing names repeating reminders, smart lists, shared lists you can assign reminders in, and sync across Apple devices through iCloud. It does not exist on Android. If you only need a list on an iPhone, try it before installing anything else.

What these do better than ours

Nearly everything that makes Todoist worth replacing with care. TickTick, Any.do and Todoist itself have projects, tags, filters and calendar views; ours has one list. Microsoft To Do, Google Tasks, TickTick and Things sync between your devices, and ours keeps everything on one phone. Microsoft To Do and Google Tasks carry no ads badge on Google Play, and ours shows ads. Of the free apps here, only ours declares data used to track you. Things is sold once, Apple Reminders is already installed, and Microsoft To Do has over a quarter of a million App Store ratings where ours has none yet. Ours is the only one that pays anything, and the amount is small. If you need a real task manager, pick from the list above it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Todoist free?

Yes. The free plan is called Beginner and has no time limit. It keeps due dates, recurring dates, priorities, sub-tasks, reminders, labels and both the list and board layouts. The cap is five active personal projects and three filter views. Pro is $7 a month or $60 a year, with a 7-day trial, according to Todoist's billing FAQ, last updated 15 October 2026. Apple's In-App Purchases row lists Pro at $6.99 a month and $59.99 a year.

What is the best free app like Todoist?

For a list with no project cap and nothing to buy, Microsoft To Do and Google Tasks are both free on iPhone and Android, with no in-app purchases on either store and no ads badge on Google Play. Microsoft's listing says To Do is free and available on all your devices. On an iPhone, Apple's Reminders app is already installed and costs nothing. TickTick's free plan is closer to Todoist in features but caps you at 9 lists and 99 tasks per list. Read 20 October 2026.

Is TickTick cheaper than Todoist?

On the yearly plan, yes. TickTick Premium is $49.99 a year on its own upgrade page and on Apple's In-App Purchases row, which also lists $4.99 a month. Todoist Pro is $60 a year or $7 a month. That is $10.01 a year less for TickTick. TickTick's page says refunds are available within 14 days for purchases through Google Play, PayPal or Stripe, and App Store purchases go through Apple.

Is there a to-do app like Todoist with no subscription?

Things 3 is sold once per device: $9.99 for iPhone and Apple Watch, $19.99 for iPad and $49.99 for Mac on Apple's stores, 20 October 2026. All three come to $79.97, which passes one year of Todoist Pro and is less than two. Things runs only on Apple devices; there is no Android or Windows version. Microsoft To Do, Google Tasks and Apple Reminders have no subscription because they have nothing to sell.

How much is Any.do Premium?

It depends where you read it. Any.do's pricing page shows Premium at $4.99 a month billed annually or $7.99 billed monthly. Its App Store description lists $9.99 for a monthly plan, $26.99 for six months and $59.99 for twelve months with a 7-day trial. Apple's In-App Purchases row lists ten items from $2.99 to $59.99. Any.do's pricing page puts recurring tasks in Premium, not in the free plan.

Can a family share one Todoist subscription?

No. Todoist's billing FAQ says each Pro subscription is tied to one account. Any.do sells a Family plan on its pricing page at $8.33 a month billed annually, or $9.99 monthly, for four members. Microsoft To Do and Apple Reminders cost nothing, and both listings say a list can be shared with other people.

We make a to-do list, and that is the disclosure

Todo And Earn is ours. It is a simple list that pays a coin per finished task, up to ten a day, free with ads on the App Store and Google Play. It is not a Todoist replacement for anyone who needs projects or sync. What it does, and what a coin is worth, is on its own page, and Todoist's full price list is on is Todoist free.
