Where we stand, before the list. We publish four small reward apps, which compete with Receipt Hog for the same few minutes of a person's day. None of them reads a receipt or pays cash back, so none of them replaces Receipt Hog and this page does not suggest one does. We take no referral fee from any app named here and there are no referral codes on the page.

Receipt Hog has three things that most of its usual replacements lack: a cash-out at $5, a ladder of tiers that pays more per coin the longer you save, and a Canadian version that pays in Canadian currency. Our Fetch alternatives page sorts receipt apps by whether they take any receipt. This one sorts them by the three things a Receipt Hog user would lose by switching.

What Receipt Hog actually pays

A coin-receipt from a grocery-type store earns by basket size: 5 coins under $10, 10 coins from $10 to $50, 15 from $50 to $100 and 20 at $100 or more. Once a week's receipts have earned 100 coins, each further receipt that week earns 5 coins and a sweepstakes entry. Receipt Hog's weeks run the 1st to the 7th, the 8th to the 14th, the 15th to the 21st, and the 22nd to the end of the month.

The redemption tiers are the same for PayPal, an Amazon e-gift card and a Visa e-gift card: 1,000 coins for $5, 2,900 for $15, 4,300 for $25 and 6,500 for $40. Its help center adds that the reward value is always in the currency of the country your account is based in, so a Canadian account cashes out in Canadian dollars. Its terms are titled U.S. and Canada Terms and Conditions, and they give the two countries different inactivity rules: three consecutive months in the US, one year in Canada. Our Receipt Hog review and the arithmetic on what it pays go through the weekly ceiling in full.

On 20 October 2026 the US App Store listing showed 272,175 ratings averaging 4.8, the Canadian one about 30,500, and Google Play about 344,000 reviews. The app was last updated on 12 October 2026. Nobody leaves it because it stopped working. People leave because 100 coins a week is fifty cents.

All of them side by side

Every figure is the publisher's own, read on 20 October 2026 and linked at the foot of the page. Canada means the app was listed in the Canadian App Store that day.

Receipt Hog alternatives compared on the first cash-out, whether it can be cash, and whether the app runs in Canada
App First cash-out Cash option Canada?
Receipt Hog 1,000 coins for $5 PayPal Yes, paid in Canadian currency
ReceiptJar 1,000 points for $5, after connecting an email PayPal in the US and Canada Yes
Checkout 51 $20 PayPal, check, Venmo in the US Yes, paid in Canadian dollars
Caddle $20 Interac e-Transfer Canada only
CoinOut $3 gift card at Silver level and 3,000 coins Venmo from Gold, PayPal at Diamond No
Ibotta $20, one redeemed offer, seven days Bank or PayPal No
Fetch 3,000 points for most rewards None, by its terms No, US only

The table ranks nothing. A $20 floor at Checkout 51 can arrive faster than $5 at Receipt Hog in a week with good offers, because the money per receipt is set by brands rather than by a weekly cap.

The same deal, any receipt, coins and tiers

ReceiptJar

ReceiptJar, run by The U Group & Co Limited, is the closest copy of Receipt Hog's arithmetic we found. Its help centre publishes the same four basket bands (5 points up to $10, 10 to $50, 15 to $100 and 20 above $100) and the first two redemption tiers match Receipt Hog's exactly: 1,000 points for $5 and 2,900 for $15. After that it goes its own way, with 3,900 for $20, 9,500 for $50 and 19,000 for $100. It accepts receipts from restaurants, bars, cafes, petrol stations and clothing stores as well as groceries, and it runs in the US, Canada and Australia, with PayPal offered in the US and Canada.

Three rules make it a stricter deal. Receipts must be uploaded within seven days of purchase, against fourteen at Receipt Hog. An account with no physical receipt for 30 days is reset, with points, pending redemptions and level forfeited. And a first redemption requires connecting an email account and completing a profile survey, which is a larger grant than photographing a receipt. We did not find a published weekly cap. On 20 October 2026 the US App Store listing showed 65,368 ratings and Google Play about 57,500 reviews, and the app was last updated in August 2026.

CoinOut

CoinOut takes any receipt within 14 calendar days and pays 10 to 50 coins each, depending on your level, for the first 25 receipts a week and 125 a month. The first reward is a $3 gift card, unlocked at Silver level with 3,000 coins. Venmo starts at Gold and PayPal appears only at Diamond, in $25 and $50 amounts. Your level is set on the 1st of each month from the previous month's activity, and coins expire after 90 days without a valid paper receipt, with seven days' warning. It is US only: it was not listed in the Canadian App Store on 20 October 2026. The US listing showed 89,951 ratings.

If you are in Canada

This is where most "apps like" lists stop being useful, because the apps they lead with are American. On 20 October 2026 Fetch, Ibotta and CoinOut were not listed in the Canadian App Store, and Fetch's FAQ says it is only available to shoppers in the United States.

Checkout 51

Checkout 51 still exists and was updated on 13 October 2026. It is an offer app rather than an any-receipt app: you add offers, buy the items while the offer is live and upload the receipt before it ends. Canadian offers pay cash back in Canadian dollars and need Canadian purchases. Cash-out starts at $20, to PayPal or by mailed check, with Venmo for US members only. Its terms list Canada and the United States as the countries served.

The term to read is the inactivity charge. After 180 days without a claimed offer, Checkout 51 may deduct $3.99 of cash back a month until the balance is gone, after 30 days' notice by email. Quebec residents get a year instead of 180 days. The Canadian App Store listing showed 7,314 ratings and the US one 6,484, and Google Play about 81,000 reviews.

Caddle

Caddle is Canadian and pays for responding to surveys, buying featured products and writing reviews, rather than for any receipt. Its site says you can cash out from $20 by Interac e-Transfer to your registered email. It publishes no per-task rate on that page. On 20 October 2026 it was listed in the Canadian App Store with 2,396 ratings and not in the US one.

The ones that need a decision before you shop

Ibotta

Ibotta pays cash back on offers listed in the app rather than on any receipt, and withdrawal needs at least $20 in earnings, one redeemed offer and a seven-day wait after that first one. It pays to a bank, PayPal or a gift card. It is the biggest app on this page after Fetch, with 1,973,855 US App Store ratings on 20 October 2026, and it was not listed in the Canadian store.

Fetch

Fetch takes up to 35 receipts in a rolling seven days, each within 14 days of checkout, and most rewards start at 3,000 points. Points expire after 90 days of inactivity. Its terms say points have no cash, monetary or other value and cannot be redeemed for cash in whole or in part, so a Receipt Hog user moving to Fetch gives up PayPal entirely. Its US listing showed 7,781,971 ratings, by far the most here.

Shopmium, which is gone from North America

Shopmium still turns up on these lists, but Checkout 51's help center says Shopmium officially closed on 14 November 2024 and its offers moved to Checkout 51. It still operates in the United Kingdom, where its App Store listing showed 20,292 ratings on 20 October 2026, and it was not listed in the US or Canadian store.

Why ours is not on the list

None of our four apps reads a receipt, so none of them replaces Receipt Hog. They pay coins for a daily habit, reach a first PayPal payout at 2,000 coins, which is $2.00, and pay 5,000 coins, or $5, after that. If what you liked about Receipt Hog was being paid for shopping you had already done, install one of the apps above.

What these apps do better than ours

  • They pay for something you were doing anyway. Every app on this page attaches its reward to a purchase. Ours pay only for work you do after installing them.
  • Checkout 51 and Ibotta move bigger amounts. A single good offer can beat a week of anything we pay, because the money comes from a brand's marketing budget.
  • Receipt Hog, ReceiptJar and Checkout 51 serve Canada in Canadian currency, and say so in their own help pages. Caddle pays by Interac e-Transfer, which is the payment Canadians actually use.
  • Receipt Hog rewards saving up. Its $40 tier pays about 23% more per coin than its $5 tier. Ours pays the same rate at every payout.
  • The track records are long. Hundreds of thousands of ratings for Receipt Hog and millions for Fetch and Ibotta are better evidence that the money arrives than anything an app of our size can offer.

How to check any of these yourself

Three numbers decide whether a switch is worth it, and every app here publishes them in a help center: the first cash-out, the inactivity rule and the countries served. Read all three before uploading a single receipt, then redeem at the first threshold you are allowed to. A balance is a record in a company's database rather than money held for you, which is the lesson from the last big app in this category to close without notice, and Shopmium's North American exit is a gentler version of the same story.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best app like Receipt Hog?

ReceiptJar is the closest match on paper. Its help centre publishes the same four basket bands Receipt Hog uses (5, 10, 15 and 20 points), the same $5 first redemption at 1,000 points and the same $15 tier at 2,900, and it runs in the US and Canada too. The differences are in the rules around it: a seven-day upload window instead of fourteen, an account reset after 30 days without a physical receipt, and a first redemption that requires connecting an email account. Figures read on 20 October 2026.

Is there an app like Receipt Hog in Canada?

Yes, and fewer than the US lists suggest. On 20 October 2026 Fetch, Ibotta and CoinOut were not listed in the Canadian App Store at all. Three that are listed are ReceiptJar, Checkout 51 and Caddle. ReceiptJar takes Canadian receipts and pays PayPal in Canada. Checkout 51 pays Canadian offers in Canadian dollars and cashes out at $20. Caddle pays for surveys and cash back offers and sends $20 or more by Interac e-Transfer. Receipt Hog itself runs in Canada and pays rewards in the currency of the country your account is based in.

Does Fetch work in Canada?

No. Fetch's own FAQ says it is only available to shoppers in the United States, and on 20 October 2026 the Fetch app was not listed in the Canadian App Store. Canadians who want a receipt app that pays in their own currency are choosing between Receipt Hog, ReceiptJar, Checkout 51 and Caddle. Fetch would not pay cash in any country anyway: its terms say points have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash in whole or in part.

Which receipt app has the lowest cash-out?

Among the apps on this page, Receipt Hog and ReceiptJar both start at $5, for 1,000 coins or points, to PayPal or a gift card. CoinOut's first reward is a $3 gift card, but only once you reach Silver level and 3,000 coins, and PayPal waits until Diamond at $25. Checkout 51, Ibotta and Caddle all ask for $20. A low floor is not a high rate: Receipt Hog caps receipt coins at 100 a week, which is 50 cents at the bottom tier.

Is it better to cash out Receipt Hog at $5 or wait?

Waiting pays more per coin, which is rare in this category. Receipt Hog's tiers are 1,000 coins for $5, 2,900 for $15, 4,300 for $25 and 6,500 for $40, the same for PayPal, Amazon and Visa. The $40 tier works out at about 23% more per coin than the $5 one. The catch is the inactivity rule: a US account can be suspended or eliminated after three consecutive months of inactivity, a Canadian one after a year, so a long save only works if you keep uploading.

What happened to Shopmium in the US?

It closed. Checkout 51's help center says Shopmium officially closed on 14 November 2024 and that its offers moved to Checkout 51, which offered Shopmium members a $5 bonus for signing up with the same email. Shopmium still runs in the United Kingdom, where its App Store listing had 20,292 ratings on 20 October 2026, but it was not listed in the US or Canadian App Store. Checkout 51 itself is very much alive and was last updated on the App Store on 13 October 2026.
