Where we stand, before the list. We build four small reward apps, and two of them, Daily: Learn and Earn and Todo and Earn, compete with Swagbucks for the same spare few minutes a day. We take no referral fee from any app on this page and there is no affiliate link here. Ours appears once, near the bottom, and the section that matters most is the one where we say what the others do better.

Swagbucks pays, and our Swagbucks review goes through why it is legitimate. People leave it for smaller reasons. Surveys that screen you out after a few minutes are the most common one. The second is the cash-out: $5 of PayPal costs 530 SB, while a $5 gift card costs 500. So the useful way to sort the alternatives is by what each one pays for and where its cash-out starts, because that is what changes when you switch.

What Swagbucks actually charges to cash out

Swagbucks' rewards store, read on 20 October 2026, prices PayPal at $5 for 530 SB, $10 for 1,030, $25 for 2,530 and $100 for 10,030. The page says the price includes the processing fees PayPal charges Swagbucks. Gift cards from Amazon, Walmart, Target, Google Play and others start at 500 SB for $5. The same page says a reward can take up to 10 business days to arrive. The flat 30 SB is 6% of a $5 PayPal reward and 0.3% of a $100 one, which the arithmetic on what Swagbucks pays works through in full.

All of them side by side

Mechanics only, because mechanics are the part you can check. Every figure is the publisher's own, read on 20 October 2026 and linked at the foot of the page.

None of the survey apps publishes how often you get screened out of a survey, and that rate decides your real hourly pay more than any figure in this table. Prolific's hourly floor is the only published number that comes close to answering it.

If you want the same mix with dollars instead of points

InboxDollars

InboxDollars is the closest thing to Swagbucks in shape, and there is a reason for that: both are published by Prodege. Its App Store listing says you earn in dollars and cents rather than points, and it pays for surveys, games, installing apps, signing up for newsletters, and 1% to 40% cash back at partner stores. Cash-outs go to PayPal or gift cards from Amazon, Apple, Target and Walmart. We could not confirm the current minimum. One article in its own help center still says you can cash out once you reach $30, but it mentions checks, which the App Store listing does not, so it may be out of date. The listing holds 223,621 ratings on the App Store, and Google Play shows 5M+ downloads. Its App Privacy label lists purchases, location, user content, identifiers, usage data and sensitive info as data that may be used to track you, the same six categories Swagbucks lists.

Freecash

Freecash leans toward games and offers more than surveys. Its App Store listing says to play games, answer surveys and shop online, and that every task adds real money to your balance. Its help center sets the first withdrawal at $5 to $20 depending on your region and asks you to verify your ID with a selfie at that point. After the first one there is no regional threshold, only the minimum for the method you pick, such as $5 for PayPal. It has 158,692 ratings on the App Store and 10M+ downloads on Google Play, and Apple shows it as 16+.

If you only want surveys

Survey Junkie

Survey Junkie is surveys and little else. Its website says members can cash out beginning at $5 (500 points) through PayPal, bank transfer or gift cards, and that you must be at least 18 and live in the United States, Canada, Australia or the United Kingdom. Its own App Store description says a minimum of 1,000 points instead, so the two pages disagree, and the redeem screen in your account is the one to trust. It has 87,158 ratings on the App Store. We did not find its Google Play listing on the day we checked.

Branded Surveys

Branded Surveys publishes its rate plainly in its App Store listing: 100 points is $1, you can cash out at 500 points, and you get 100 points for joining. Payouts go to PayPal or gift cards such as Amazon. It is the smallest of the big names here, with 15,307 ratings on the App Store and 500K+ downloads on Google Play.

If you want less to do

Google Opinion Rewards

Google's help page says each survey pays between $0.10 and $1.00, depending on its length, and the App Store listing says surveys typically take less than 20 seconds. On an iPhone it sends a PayPal payment each time $2.00 builds up. On Android it pays Google Play credit instead. You do not pick surveys from a list. You wait for one to arrive, so there is far less to do than on Swagbucks. The help page adds that a balance expires one year after the last survey you took. It has 210,535 ratings on the App Store and 100M+ downloads on Google Play, and its App Privacy label lists no data used to track you.

If you want surveys paid by the hour

Prolific

Prolific is an academic research platform rather than a reward app. Its researcher help says studies must pay at least £6 or $8 an hour and recommends at least £9 or $12. Its participant help says you can cash out to PayPal once approved earnings reach £6 or $6, that the money arrives within 24 hours, and that earnings can take up to 22 days to be approved. It is the only option here that puts a published floor under your time. It does not promise how many studies you will be offered.

Ours, last and for completeness

Daily: Learn and Earn is the one of ours closest to the small daily actions Swagbucks pays for. It deals nine question cards a day and a ten-question quiz, and pays a coin for each card you reveal and each quiz answer you get right. A coin is a tenth of a cent, and the first PayPal cash-out is 2,000 coins, which is $2.00, then 5,000 after that. Its own page does the division: a full day without watching anything is 19 coins, about 105 days to a first $2.00, and optional videos bring that to roughly 18 to 36 days. Todo and Earn pays a coin for each finished task, up to ten a day, on the same cash-out terms. Both are free, on iPhone, iPad and Android, paid for by a banner and optional short videos, and keep your coins on the device with no account. Read the next section before you install either.

What these do better than ours

  • They pay for far more. Swagbucks, InboxDollars and Freecash pay for surveys, games, offers and shopping. Ours pays for one small thing a day each, and the daily cap is low on purpose.
  • Surveys pay more per action. A single Google Opinion Rewards survey pays $0.10 to $1.00. A full day in Daily: Learn and Earn without videos is 19 coins, which is under two cents.
  • Prolific publishes an hourly floor. No reward app on this page, ours included, can say what an hour of your time is worth. Prolific can, because researchers are required to pay at least $8 an hour.
  • Your balance follows you. Swagbucks and the survey panels keep your balance in an account. Ours keeps coins on the phone, so an iPhone balance and an Android balance are separate and switching phones means cashing out first.
  • Google Opinion Rewards has the lowest cash bar. It sends PayPal at every $2.00 on an iPhone, the same as our first cash-out, and it never raises the bar after that. Ours rises to $5.00 after the first payout.

How to check any of these yourself

Every figure on this page came from a rewards store, a help center or a store listing. The same method works on any app in this category. Find the page that says what a point is worth and where cash-out starts, and check whether the website and the app listing agree. On this page they did not for Survey Junkie or InboxDollars, which is common, and the redeem screen inside your account is the final word.

Then cash out at the first threshold you are allowed to. A balance in one of these apps is a record in a company's database rather than money held for you, which is the lesson from the last big app in this category to close without notice.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best app like Swagbucks?

It depends on what you want to change. If you want the same mix of surveys, games and cash back with earnings shown in dollars instead of points, InboxDollars is the closest match, but it is run by Prodege, the same company that runs Swagbucks. If you want surveys that are paid by the hour, Prolific requires researchers to pay at least $8 an hour and cashes out to PayPal from $6. If you want the least effort, Google Opinion Rewards pays $0.10 to $1.00 a survey, figures from Google's own help page read on 20 October 2026.

Is there an app like Swagbucks that pays more?

None of these apps publishes an hourly rate for surveys, so nobody can honestly say one pays more than another per hour. The exception is Prolific, which is a research platform rather than a reward app: its help pages set a minimum of $8 (or £6) an hour that researchers must pay and recommend at least $12 (or £9). That is a floor on what a study pays, not a promise of how many studies you will be offered.

What is the minimum cash-out on apps like Swagbucks?

On 20 October 2026: Swagbucks starts at 500 SB for a $5 gift card and 530 SB for $5 of PayPal cash. Google Opinion Rewards sends PayPal every time $2.00 builds up. Survey Junkie's website says $5 (500 points), though its App Store description says 1,000 points. Branded Surveys cashes out at 500 points, which is $5. Prolific cashes out at £6 or $6. Freecash asks for $5 to $20 on your first withdrawal depending on region, then $5 for PayPal after that.

Are Swagbucks and InboxDollars the same company?

Yes. Both apps are published by Prodege LLC on the App Store and by Prodege on Google Play. They differ in how they show your balance: InboxDollars says you earn in dollars and cents rather than points, while Swagbucks pays in SB. If you are leaving Swagbucks because of the company behind it, moving to InboxDollars does not change that.

Why does Swagbucks charge more SB for PayPal?

Swagbucks adds 30 SB to every PayPal reward and says the price includes the processing fees PayPal charges it. So $5 of PayPal costs 530 SB and $100 costs 10,030 SB, while a $5 Amazon, Walmart or Target gift card costs 500 SB. The surcharge is 6% of a $5 cash-out and 0.3% of a $100 one, so it hurts most when your balance is small.

Is Google Opinion Rewards better than Swagbucks?

It is simpler, and for some people that is better. Google says each survey pays between $0.10 and $1.00, its App Store listing says surveys typically take under 20 seconds, and on an iPhone it sends PayPal each time $2.00 builds up. On Android it pays Google Play credit instead of cash. It offers far less to do than Swagbucks: you wait for a survey to arrive rather than choosing from a list, and the balance expires a year after the last survey you took.
