Where we stand, before the list. We make a trading card maker, Card Lab, so this is our own category and we are not neutral in it. It is free with one banner ad, on Google Play since October 2026, and its iPhone version is waiting on Apple’s review. It is on the list below, second from last, and it is not the verdict. We take no referral fee from any app named here.
PokeArt - TCG Card Maker makes fan-made cards in the style of one famous card game, on more than 750 card backgrounds, and it is the most-rated card maker on the App Store, with 62,050 ratings at 4.7. Its version history ends at 4.0.1 on 11 February 2024, and before that the last update was in October 2020. It has never been on Google Play: a search there for the app and for its publisher, Polybit Studio, found nothing on 20 October 2026. So the people asking for an app like PokeArt are mostly on Android, or tired of waiting for new card styles. The apps below split on two questions: does it copy a franchise’s cards, and does it have a public gallery your child can post to.
What each one costs, read off the listings
Read on 20 October 2026. Apple’s column is the In-App Purchases row in each listing’s Information section, which shows prices with no billing periods unless the item name gives one. The Play column is the badges and download count under the title, because none of these Play listings shows a price.

What PokeArt still does, and what has stopped
The app is still on sale, and its listing still advertises a weekly event where players submit cards and vote. Its listing names 750 card backgrounds, photos or your own drawing, a 3D and AR view on supported devices, sharing and printing. What has stopped is new content. The description lists Sword and Shield, Sun and Moon and XY as the latest expansions, and none of its three updates since June 2020 names a new card style in its notes. A review from 1 September 2025 asks for faster approval of event submissions and says one had been loading for more than a week without going through. Two of the reviews Apple showed first, from February 2021 and October 2022, say ads interrupt editing, and one says a tap meant for the card often lands on the ad and the card has to be started again.
None of this means it has broken. A 4.7 average from 62,050 ratings says most people who used it liked it. It means the next card style, and an Android version, are not coming from this publisher on any evidence its listing gives.
The alternatives
Card Maker for PKM, by PAMG
The nearest thing to PokeArt on Android, and on both stores. On Google Play it is called Card Maker for PKM (Poke Fan), with 1M+ downloads and 21.6K reviews at 4.1, last updated 31 December 2025. On the App Store it is Card Maker Creator for Pokemon, with 3,003 ratings at 4.3, last updated 6 March 2025. The iPhone listing names newer card stages than PokeArt’s, and says the card is sized at 2.5 by 3.5 inches for printing. It sells Premium at $4.99 and a monthly plan at $1.99 after a three-day free trial. Google Play rates the Android app Teen, with Diverse Content: Discretion Advised, and its Data safety section says data isn’t encrypted and can’t be deleted. Apple’s App Privacy panel lists identifiers used to track you and location collected for third-party advertising.
Card Maker For PKM, by Gyuwam
The other large Android one: 500K+ downloads and 3.03K reviews at 4.3 on Google Play, last updated 27 July 2026, rated Everyone with Users Interact noted. It has tap-to-edit fields, a foil effect, and an online gallery where you upload cards and like other people’s, which is the part of PokeArt’s weekly events most like it. Its Data safety section says no data is shared with third parties and that you can ask for data to be deleted. We did not check whether it has an iPhone version.
PokeCards TCG Card Maker Live, by KoruApps
An iPhone and iPad app with 271 ratings at 4.6, last updated 16 June 2025, in 23 languages. Version 2.1 added holo, foil and 3D-style filters, folders and HD export as premium features. Apple’s list has $3.99 a month, $17.99 a year, $29.99 for life, and Remove Ads at $3.99. A review from June 2024 says it has ads. Its App Privacy panel lists identifiers used to track you. A search of Google Play for it by name found nothing.
Card Maker : DIY Monster, by INHYUK CHOI
Small, with 89 App Store ratings at 4.7, and one of the few here that makes monster cards without borrowing a franchise’s look: you pick a frame, an effect, a monster and a background. The listing shows no In-App Purchases row. Its App Privacy panel lists usage data used to track you and identifiers collected for third-party advertising, which means ads. Last updated 18 December 2025.
Sports Card Maker Pro, by Thinkamingo
For sports cards rather than monsters: name, team, position and number on a logo-free design, with your own photo. Its listing suggests coaches make a card for each player and print a season souvenir. It is free with no In-App Purchases row, and has 746 ratings at 4.5. It is older than PokeArt’s last update by six years: its only version, 1.0, is dated 3 February 2018, it asks for iOS 8 or later, and its App Privacy panel reads No Details Provided.
Card Lab, ours
Free on Google Play with nothing to buy and one small banner ad on the home screen, none while a card is being made. Every ad request is marked as directed at children. It makes three kinds of card: battle cards with a power number and two moves, star cards for sports with four stat bars, and buddy cards for pets, friends and family. It has 56 hand-drawn stickers, ten types, six frames and four rarities, all its own; none copies a franchise. Every card has a back, cards go into numbered decks, and it prints up to nine cards at 2.5 by 3.5 inches with cut marks and a page of backs for two-sided printing. There is no account and no gallery, and cards stay on the device. It is Android only for now, and its Play Data safety section lists location and device IDs among data shared with third parties, for the ad and analytics. The browser card maker makes one card at a time with the same types and frames.
Canva
A general design app, rated 4.9 from 3.6 million App Store ratings and with 500M+ downloads on Google Play. It is on this list because people use design templates to make custom cards, though we could not read Canva’s own trading card pages to say what templates it offers. Apple’s list includes Canva Pro at $14.99 a month or $119.99 a year. The App Store rates it 13+ and Google Play rates it Everyone 10+, so it is a tool for a parent or an older child.
What these do better than ours
If the point is a card that looks like it came from a real booster pack, PAMG’s, Gyuwam’s and KoruApps’ apps do that and ours deliberately does not. PokeArt’s 750 backgrounds and its AR view are more than any app here offers, ours included. Gyuwam’s gallery and PokeArt’s weekly votes give a card an audience, which ours has no way to do. PAMG’s app is on iPhone and Android today, where ours is on Android only, and Gyuwam’s declares no data shared with third parties, which ours cannot say. Canva will make anything, not only cards. If your child wants fan cards on Android, start with PAMG’s or Gyuwam’s. If you want a card for the dog, a teammate or a monster they drew, and no public side to it, the choice is wider.
