What is on the sheet
Eighteen rows, one for each person or need. Each row has the date it went on the list, a wide space for who or what you are praying for, and a second wide space for updates as things change. Then come seven small boxes, one for each day of the week, to tick when you pray for it, and a last column to circle A for answered or S for set down.
At the top there is a line for your name and the week. Four short reminders of how to use it run along the foot.
How to use it
Write each prayer in your own words, as short as you like: “Mom, knee surgery” is enough. Put the date beside it. When there is news, add a line under updates with the date, so the row tells the story when you read it later.
Start each time with the prayer that has waited longest, so nothing slips to the bottom of the page. At the end of the week, copy what is still open onto a fresh sheet and keep the old one. The full method, with ideas for a family or a group, is in the guide to how to keep a prayer list.
The PDF is one page at US Letter size. Print it at 100%, or with Fit to page on A4.
Frequently asked questions
What should I write on a prayer list?
The name of the person or the need, in a few words of your own, and the date you added it. When something changes, write a short dated note beside it, like “surgery moved to Monday”. That's enough to pray from, and enough to look back on later.
How often should I start a new sheet?
The sheet has a week of day boxes, so a new one each week works for most people. Copy across whatever is still open, oldest first, and keep the old sheet as a record of what you held.
What does set down mean?
It's for a prayer that ended without the answer you hoped for, or one you have stopped carrying for now. Marking it set down, apart from answered, keeps an honest record of both.
Is this prayer list for one religion?
No. There is no verse, set prayer or religious symbol on it. The columns work for any tradition, or none.
Will it print on A4 paper?
It's made for US Letter. On A4, choose Fit to page in the print dialog and it shrinks slightly, which is fine for a sheet you write on.
Let Them Pray on your phone
Let Them Pray keeps the same list on a phone, in your own words, with the longest waiting first. It adds dated updates, reminders, and the same two endings, answered or set down, kept in a journal. There is no account, and nothing you write leaves the phone. It's free on the App Store.
