How many coins for a dollar amount?
The four prices
Receipt Hog charges the same four prices whether you take PayPal, an Amazon e-gift card or a Visa e-gift card, and they aren't proportional:
- 1,000 coins for $5 — 0.500¢ a coin.
- 2,900 coins for $15 — 0.517¢ a coin.
- 4,300 coins for $25 — 0.581¢ a coin.
- 6,500 coins for $40 — 0.615¢ a coin, 23% more than the bottom one.
So the converter doesn't just divide. It finds the mix of cash-outs that pays the most for your balance and shows what's left.
Is it worth saving up?
The arithmetic says yes. Receipts are capped at 100 coins a week, and Receipt Hog runs four weeks a month, so a perfect year is 4,800 coins. Cash that out at $5 a time and it's $20 with 800 coins stranded. Hold out for the 4,300 tier and it's $25.
The catch is in the help center: an account goes inactive after three months without an upload, and the coins go with it. Saving only costs you nothing if you keep scanning.
Surveys, spins and the sweepstakes sit on top, and Receipt Hog doesn't price those. That's on how much Receipt Hog pays.
