A printable ocean math worksheet with ten boxes of line-drawn crabs, pufferfish and jellyfish to count from one to ten and a square in each to write the number
Two pages, US Letter. Download the PDF. It's free, with no sign-up.

What is on the sheet

Page one is counting. Ten boxes hold from one to ten sea animals, mixed up, with a square in each box for the number. They're the crabs, pufferfish and jellyfish from our game Broadside, drawn as outlines to color in after.

Page two starts with five addition problems drawn as sea animals, all adding to ten or less. Under them is Swim away: a row of animals with some crossed out because they swam off, and a take-away problem to match, like 9 − 2. Kids count the ones still there.

The answers are printed upside down along the bottom of each page.

Ways to use it

It fits an ocean unit or a week before a trip to the aquarium. Ask a younger child to count only the crabs in a box first, then everything. On the take-away rows, ask how many were there and how many swam off before writing the answer.

The PDF is two pages at US Letter size. Print both, or only the one that fits.

Frequently asked questions

What age is this ocean math worksheet for?

Page one, counting one to ten, suits preschool and kindergarten. Page two adds to ten and then takes away, which is kindergarten and first grade. Print only the page that fits.

How do kids do the take-away problems?

The sea animals that swam off are already crossed out, so a child counts the ones left. Once that's easy, cover the X's and have them cross out their own.

Is there an answer key?

Yes. The answers are printed upside down at the bottom of each page.

Can I copy it for my class?

Yes. Print as many as you like for a classroom, an ocean unit or a homeschool group. It's free, with no sign-up.

Broadside on your phone

In Broadside you sail an old wooden ship up a sea full of monsters while the cannons fire on their own. Every voyage ends with a giant sea monster, and the kraken is the first. You can also play it in your browser. It's free on Google Play.
