Privacy Policy

Slap Pile

Last Updated: October 13, 2026

This policy covers one app: Slap Pile: Slapjack & Speed, the card game for two to four players around one phone or tablet lying flat on a table. It plays Slapjack, Egyptian Ratscrew, Speed, Snap and War, and any seat can be the computer. Our other apps are covered by the general Illumination Development privacy policy, which does not apply here. That policy describes reward balances and redemption records that this app does not have.

The short version

There is no account to make and no sign-in. Players are seat colors, not names. Your game record is stored on the device and nowhere else.

The app does not use the microphone, the camera, your location or your contacts, asks for no permission, and there is nothing to buy.

Three things leave the device, all described in full below: advertising requests to Google AdMob, gameplay counts to Google Analytics for Firebase, and crash reports to Google Crashlytics. The last two carry a random identifier that Firebase makes for this installation, and nothing that says who you are. Every advertisement request is marked as child-directed, rated G and not personalized, and there is never an advertisement during a game.

What stays on the device

Your game record: how many times each game has been played, how many times a person beat the computer at each game, and the last table you set up for each game (how many seats, which seats are the computer and at what level, and the house rules you chose). Also your settings (sound effects and vibration) and a count of games finished since the last full-screen advertisement. It is kept in the app's private storage, and it is removed if you use Delete my data or uninstall the app.

Advertising

The app is free and carries advertising from Google AdMob and no one else. There are two placements: a banner along the bottom of the home screen, and a full-screen advertisement after every fourth finished game, shown once the game is over. There is never an advertisement during a game, there are no rewarded advertisements, and there is nothing to buy.

Slap Pile is a family game that children play, so every advertisement request is marked as child-directed (Google's treatment for child-directed content), limited to content rated G, and not personalized. To serve an advertisement, the Google Mobile Ads SDK contacts Google and may collect device information, an approximate location derived from the IP address, and the request, impression and click themselves, under Google's own privacy policy. We never see any of it, and none of it is connected to your game record.

On Android, the app removes the advertising-ID permission, so the Google Mobile Ads SDK cannot read your advertising ID. On iPhone and iPad, the app does not show Apple's tracking prompt and does not request Apple's Identifier for Advertisers.

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

Where a consent regime applies, Google's consent message is shown before any advertisement is requested, and the app asks as if the user may be under the age of consent. Ad privacy options, under Your data in the app's Settings, reopens the same choices at any time; that entry appears only where a consent regime applies.

What the app sends besides advertising

The app uses Google Firebase for two things, gameplay analytics and crash reports, and Firebase gives each installation a random identifier to tie them together. None of it is linked to a real-world identity, because the app never asks for one. Both run only in the release build; the builds we use during development report nothing.

A random identifier (anonymous sign-in)

When the app first starts, it signs in to Firebase Authentication anonymously. That creates a random identifier for this installation, with no name, email address, phone number or password behind it, and you never see it or type anything. It is attached to the gameplay analytics and crash reports below, so that one installation's reports can be read together. It is not shared with advertising: Google AdMob never receives it. If the sign-in fails, the app plays exactly the same without it.

Gameplay analytics

The app reports what happens in it to Google Analytics for Firebase: that the app finished starting and how long it took; a game being dealt, with which game it is, how many seats there are and how many of them are the computer; a game ending, with the same details plus the computer's level, how long the game took and, when the computer played, whether a person won; the privacy policy being opened; an error message being shown, with the screen and a short category; and which screen is open. Alongside those, Google Analytics collects its own app-instance identifier, coarse device information such as the model, operating system and app version, and an approximate location (country or region) derived from the IP address.

No free text ever reaches analytics, because the app has nowhere to type any. Every value is a number, a yes or no, or a name from the game's own fixed list. We use it to see which games are played, which are too long and where errors happen, and for nothing else.

It is set up for children, like the advertising. Analytics is told never to collect the advertising ID (and on iPhone and iPad, not the vendor identifier either), and advertising storage, advertising user data and ad personalization are off from the moment the app starts. The analytics are not linked to AdMob or any advertising account, and are never used to choose an advertisement.

Crash and diagnostic reports

If the app crashes or hits a handled error, Google Crashlytics sends a report: the stack trace, the app version, the device model and operating system, which kind of build it is, and the random identifier described above. Crashlytics also records basic performance and session information (for example, when the app was opened). This is how bugs get found.

Firebase processes all of this on our behalf, under Firebase's privacy and security terms. It travels encrypted. We do not sell it and do not use it for advertising.

Contacting support

The app has no support form. You can write to support@illuminationdevelopment.com, the address on the store listing. What we receive is exactly what you write, from the address you send it from, and we use that address only to reply.

Delete my data

Delete my data, under Your data in the app's Settings, immediately erases your game record, your settings and the advertisement counter from the device, resets the analytics identifier so later reports start afresh with no connection to earlier ones, and deletes the random Firebase identifier described above. The app then starts again as if it had just been installed, with a new random identifier. Uninstalling the app removes the data on the device.

Gameplay analytics and crash reports already sent stay in Firebase until they expire under Google's retention periods (Crashlytics keeps crash reports for 90 days). They carry no name, email address or account. Information Google collected while serving advertisements is held by Google under its own retention periods and is not connected to your game record. To ask about either, write to privacy@illuminationdevelopment.com.

What the app does not do

Children

Slap Pile is designed to be played by families, including children. Because children play it, every advertisement in it is child-directed, rated G and non-personalized as described above, and the gameplay analytics are set up the same way. The game asks for no name or other personal information. What leaves the device is what the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects to serve an advertisement, and the gameplay counts and crash reports described above, which carry only a random identifier. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example in an email, write to privacy@illuminationdevelopment.com and we will delete it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA and CPRA, and comparable laws elsewhere, you have rights to access, correct, port and delete personal information held about you. Your game record is on your device, where you can erase it with Delete my data. For anything else, including a support email, analytics or crash reports, or data Google holds from advertising, write to privacy@illuminationdevelopment.com. Information Google holds from serving advertisements is subject to Google's privacy policy.

A note about this web page

The app does not display this page; tapping Privacy Policy in the app's Settings opens it in the device's browser, and this website uses Google Analytics to see which pages people find useful. That is described in the general policy and applies to your visit to this page, not to your use of the app. The app is available in English, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese; this policy is in English.

Changes to this policy

If any of this stops being true, this page changes before the version that changes it reaches either store, and the App Store privacy label and Google Play Data safety form change with it. Revisions are posted here with an updated date.
